It was just as good a read this time as when I read it last week.
Question: Do you notice when you feel negatively about your body? That might be a clue on how to deal with it. For me, it tends to be when I see pictures of myself.
The inner critic is a thief -- s/he steals joy, caring, wonder, etc. But most of all, s/he steals memories and humanity by overriding all the healthy sensations the body and spirit take in. I can't remember the joke I shared with a friend last August, the smell of barbecue, the birdsong and river, if all I'm feeling is disgust or loathing.
So grace is the path to oneself, but I see a hard-headed refusal to let the thief get anywhere close to my most valued treasures as also essential action.
